![]() Many people do not know the difference between digital receivers. The digital receiver pictured above is often referred to as an adapter. It only has one scart lead connection for connection to your TV or VCR. This type of receiver is more suited for connection to a portable TV in a bedroom, when you do not require it to be connected to a video, audio system or phone line for interactive services.
The digital receiver pictured left is often referred
to as a set top box. This type is more suited
for connection to your main TV
in the lounge. As you can see it has two scart sockets, one for TV
and one for video. It also has audio connections and a phone socket
for interactive servicesAs the digital picture on a freeview box comes out of the scart socket only, it is important to select the digital receiver that has the right connections for your viewing requirements. Some boxes have only one scart socket and one aerial connection, but sometimes these are also referred to as a set top box by some manufacturers and retailers.
